Lake Katrine

Lake Katrine offers views of a former train station and signal 92, set among several nineteenth century buildings along the street.

Leggs Mills Road

Getting there: From Kingston, take Route 9W north to Leggs Mills Road and turn left to the tracks.

Above: The crossing at Leggs Mills Road, looking west, on September 10, 2008.

Above: Southbound Q433 passes the automatic 92 signal just north of Leggs Mills Road on September 10, 2008.
The crossing at Katrine Lane (which is not particularly worth visiting) is visible in the distance.

Above & Below: The former train station, just south of the crossing. Its windows have been closed in with siding.
It serves as a laundry room for an apartment or condo complex. Photographed on September 20, 2008.

Eastern Parkway

Dispatchers occasionally use Eastern Parkway (north of Katrine Lane off Route 9W) as a hold point for southbound trains approaching Kingston during times of congestion.

Above: Local train C711 light rumbles north across Eastern Parkway (viewed from the east) on September 10, 2008.

Glenerie

Upper Crossing in Glenerie dead-ends at the tracks. Milepost 94 is just to the north. (As elsewhere in the area, boundaries are confusing. When asked what town we were in standing on Upper Crossing, a local responded, "kind of Kingston and kind of Glenerie." A road sign along Route 9W suggests that the entity may also be Ulster.)

Getting there: From Route 9W, take North Drive into Upper Crossing to the tracks.

Above: Q164 heads south on September 10, 2008.
