Bergenfield NJ (1 of 2)

The northern end of the triple track merges into single track at CP 10, located at Milepost 11, just south of New Bridge Road in Bergenfield.

The old Bergenfield train station can be found at Main Street further north. Milepost 12 sits between Main Street and Church Street.

In Bergenfield, the trains travel through a commercial area of sidewalks and crowded streets with little aesthetic appeal. Additional grade crossings are at Clinton Avenue, Central Avenue, and Columbia Avenue on the Dumont border.

Getting there: Traveling north from Teaneck, take Teaneck Road, which becomes Washington Avenue in Bergenfield. The tracks are just west of Washington Avenue. For CP 10, turn west into New Bridge Road and park in the Pathmark mall lot. North of New Bridge Road, a left off Washington Avenue into Clinton Avenue, Main Street, Church Street, Central Avenue, or Columbia Avenue will bring you to the tracks.

CP 10, New Bridge Road

CP 10, just to the south of the busy grade crossing at New Bridge Road, is the northern end of the triple track that begins at CP 7 in Bogota. The third track was added in 1999.

Above & Below: In a tangle of wires and shadows, southbound Q268
crosses New Bridge Road in the early morning of March 24, 2009.

Below: The CSX Police patrol this area regularly.

Above & 2 Below: Q164 was right behind Q268. The view in this and the next photo
is looking west across New Bridge Road. The third photo looks south. March 24, 2009.

The siding for a former customer, Northeast Container, was located on the northwest corner of New Bridge Road. The switch was recently removed.

The "dismount" sign still stands where the siding for Northeast Container used to be,
but the switch has been removed.

Below: Q409 is now at the crossing. The view is looking east. CP 10 is to the right.
