Several of the Northern Branch train stations that are long gone are pictured below.
Fairview Train Station
The station was located at Fairview Avenue.
Ridgefield Train Station
The Ridgefield train station sat south of Edgewater Avenue west of Broad Avenue, as seen in this aerial view.
Below: Looking west down Edgewater Avenue across Broad Avenue to the railroad tracks. The bank building is visible on the northwest corner of Broad Avenue.
Below: Early view of the train station, probably from the 19th century, but definitely earlier than 1909. Notice that there are no telephone poles yet.
Below: The station. In this later view, what would become Hendricks Causeway leading to Ridgefield Park was not a road but a trolley trestle, seen just to the right of the station. Before this trestle was built, trolley passengers had to get off the trolley on the east side of the Northern Branch tracks and board another trolley on the west side of the tracks. This ritual was repeated further west when the trolley reached the West Shore Railroad tracks. The trolley station was located on what later became the Ridgefield Circle.
Below: In this later view, probably from the 1950s, taken from Hendricks Causeway, the roof of the station has changed quite substantially. The view is looking north to Edgewater Avenue and Oritani Avenue. The bank building, which still stands today on the corner of Broad Avenue, is visible on the upper right.
Below: The northern section of Ridgefield was known as Morsemere, named for Samual F. B. Morse, the inventor of Morse Code. It had its own station, which stood at the end of Linden Avenue.
